Job Description

Chandler Unified School District is seeking a passionate and inspiring Art Teacher to join our team at Hamilton High School. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various art mediums, a deep understanding of art history and theory, and a proven ability to engage students of all levels. This role involves developing and delivering creative art lessons, fostering artistic expression, and contributing to a positive school culture. We are looking for an educator who can ignite a love for art in our students and guide them in developing their artistic skills and personal style.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement engaging art curriculum in alignment with state and district standards for high school students.
• Instruct students in various art techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and digital art.
• Foster creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression in a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Assess student progress through projects, critiques, and portfolios, providing constructive feedback.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe art studio, ensuring proper use and storage of materials and equipment.
• Exhibit student artwork within the school, district events, and at community exhibitions.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and administrators to support student success and school-wide initiatives.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the broader school community.
• Manage inventory of art supplies and propose budget needs for the art program.

Required Skills

• Valid Arizona teaching certification with an Art endorsement (K-12 or Secondary).
• Bachelor's degree in Art Education or Fine Arts with a teaching certification.
• Proficiency in multiple art mediums and techniques relevant to a high school art curriculum.
• Strong classroom management skills with an emphasis on positive behavioral support.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.
• Knowledge of art history, theory, and contemporary art practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching art at the high school level.
• Experience with digital art software and technologies (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
• A strong personal artistic portfolio demonstrating diverse skills and creativity.
• Active participation in professional art education organizations or local art communities.
