Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and meticulous Archivist to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. This critical role involves the systematic acquisition, organization, preservation, and provision of access to the historical records and significant artifacts that document RBC’s rich legacy. The Archivist will play a vital role in safeguarding our corporate memory, supporting internal research, and contributing to our understanding of the bank’s evolution. Key Responsibilities
- Appraise, acquire, arrange, and describe historical records and artifacts of RBC, ensuring their long-term preservation and accessibility.
- Develop and implement archival policies and procedures in line with professional standards and best practices.
- Manage physical and digital collections, including their storage, environmental control, and security.
- Provide research assistance and access to archival materials for internal stakeholders, researchers, and authorized external parties.
- Contribute to the digitization of archival records and manage digital assets within our information management systems.
- Collaborate with various departments to identify and transfer records of historical value to the archives.
- Maintain accurate inventories, databases, and finding aids for archival collections.
- Participate in outreach activities and projects to promote awareness and use of the archives.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Archival Studies, Library Science with an archival concentration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as an Archivist or in a similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of archival theory, principles, and practices (e.g., RAD, ISAAR(CPF), ISAD(G)).
- Proficiency in archival collection management systems and digital preservation tools.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with corporate or financial archives.
- Familiarity with Canadian archival standards and legislation.
- Proficiency in database management and metadata standards.
- Experience in project management related to archival initiatives.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
