Job Description
Kiewit Corporation is seeking a motivated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as an Apprentice Heavy Equipment Operator in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This apprenticeship program offers a comprehensive hands-on training experience for individuals eager to learn the skills necessary to operate a variety of heavy equipment used in large-scale construction and civil engineering projects. Key Responsibilities
- Learn to safely operate various types of heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, graders, and compactors, under direct supervision.
- Perform daily pre-operation and post-operation checks and basic maintenance on equipment.
- Assist with routine site preparation, including grading, excavation, and material handling.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as industry regulations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other personnel on site.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance operational skills and safety knowledge.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Support the construction team in various capacities as needed.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
