Job Description

Dominion Stores in Corner Brook is seeking a passionate and eager-to-learn Apprentice Baker to join our dynamic bakery team. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to learn the craft of baking from experienced professionals in a fast-paced retail environment. You will be instrumental in preparing a variety of baked goods, ensuring quality, consistency, and freshness. Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior bakers in the preparation, baking, and finishing of various bakery products including breads, pastries, cakes, and other desserts.
• Learn and adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
• Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes, accurately scaling and portioning doughs and batters.
• Operate and maintain bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, and proofers safely and efficiently.
• Monitor product quality and freshness, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
• Package and display baked goods attractively for sale, ensuring proper labeling.
• Maintain inventory of ingredients and supplies, communicating needs to management.
• Contribute to a positive team environment by assisting colleagues and maintaining open communication.
• Follow all company policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.

Required Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic understanding of kitchen operations and food preparation
• Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
• Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a bakery, kitchen, or retail food service setting
• Knowledge of basic food safety practices (e.g., Food Handler's Certificate)
