Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aircraft Mechanic to join our maintenance team in Gulfport, Mississippi. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modifications on various aircraft systems and components in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of aircraft mechanics, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs on aircraft systems and components.
- Interpret and apply technical data such, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manuals to accomplish maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Document all maintenance actions accurately and completely in maintenance logs and other official records.
- Operate and maintain ground support equipment and specialized tools.
- Participate in pre-flight and post-flight inspections and provide technical support during flight operations.
- Identify and order necessary parts and materials for repairs.
- Collaborate with engineers and other technical staff to resolve complex mechanical issues.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Mentor junior mechanics and contribute to a positive team atmosphere.
Required Skills
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification is mandatory.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as an Aircraft Mechanic.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical aircraft systems.
- Thorough understanding of FAA regulations, airworthiness directives (ADs), and service bulletins (SBs).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, climb, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific aircraft types relevant to Northrop Grumman's fleet (e.g., military, cargo, specialized aircraft).
- Experience with composite repair techniques.
- Associate's degree in Aviation Maintenance or a related field.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Previous experience in a defense contracting environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
