Job Description

Lockheed Martin is seeking a dedicated and thorough Security Clearance Investigator to join our team in La Jolla, CA. In this critical role, you will conduct comprehensive background investigations and adjudications necessary for employees and contractors to obtain and maintain security clearances. You will be responsible for gathering, verifying, and analyzing sensitive information in accordance with government regulations and company policies, ensuring the highest standards of national security are upheld. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, exceptional analytical skills, and a commitment to protecting classified information. You will play a vital part in our national security mission, contributing to the integrity and reliability of our workforce.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth background investigations on individuals requiring access to classified information or sensitive areas.
• Interview subjects, references, and other individuals to gather relevant information.
• Verify employment history, educational qualifications, personal references, and financial records.
• Analyze collected data to identify potential security risks or areas of concern.
• Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely reports summarizing investigative findings.
• Ensure all investigations comply with government regulations (e.g., SEAD 4, NISPOM) and company policies.
• Collaborate with security management and government agencies throughout the clearance process.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
• Provide recommendations based on investigative findings for clearance adjudication.
• Stay current with evolving security policies, procedures, and investigative techniques.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, National Security, Business Administration, or related field.
• 4+ years of experience in security investigations, counterintelligence, law enforcement, or human resources.
• Demonstrated experience conducting interviews and gathering sensitive information.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to identify potential risks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
• Proficiency in using investigative tools and databases.
• Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive information.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Active Top Secret security clearance.
• Experience with national security adjudication guidelines (e.g., SEAD 4).
• Knowledge of DISS (Defense Information System for Security) or other security management systems.
• Certifications in security management or investigations (e.g., CPP, PCI).
• Experience working within the defense contracting or government sector.
