Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic City Manager to oversee the comprehensive operations and strategic management of our portfolio of properties within The Loop district of Chicago. The City Manager will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, profitability, and tenant satisfaction across all assigned assets. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in real estate management, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of the Chicago market. You will drive operational excellence, foster strong tenant relationships, and contribute to the overall success and reputation of Brookfield Properties in this key urban center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and capital improvement projects for a portfolio of commercial and residential properties.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize property performance, occupancy rates, and financial returns.
  • Manage budgets, financial forecasts, and reporting for all assigned properties, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with tenants, addressing concerns and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of property managers and operational staff.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Identify and implement best practices for property management, sustainability, and tenant engagement.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and service agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Conduct regular property inspections to identify and address issues proactively, ensuring properties are well-maintained and presented.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in property management, real estate development, or asset management.
  • Strong financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of real estate market trends, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in property management software (e.g., Yardi, MRI) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CSM, CPM, or RPA.
  • Extensive network within the Chicago real estate community.
  • Experience with Class A commercial and luxury residential properties.
