Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Disability Adjudicator to join our team in Chandler, AZ. In this vital role, you will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and making determinations on disability claims in accordance with company policies, state and federal regulations, and established guidelines. This position requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to fair and accurate claim resolution. You will collaborate with claimants, medical providers, employers, and internal teams to gather necessary information and ensure a thorough and timely adjudication process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and gather all necessary medical, vocational, and financial information pertinent to disability claims.
  • Analyze complex medical reports, financial statements, and policy provisions to determine claimant eligibility for benefits.
  • Apply regulatory and contractual provisions to render accurate and timely disability claim decisions.
  • Communicate claim decisions clearly and professionally to claimants, providers, and employers, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate electronic claim files, documenting all actions and communications.
  • Collaborate with vocational rehabilitation specialists, nurses, and other internal experts to support claim management.
  • Manage a caseload effectively, prioritizing tasks to meet service level agreements and deadlines.
  • Identify and refer cases for potential fraud investigation or complex legal review when appropriate.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with industry trends and regulations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in disability claims adjudication, insurance, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret complex medical and legal documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex decisions clearly and empathetically.
  • Proficiency in using claims management software and standard office applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Knowledge of state and federal disability regulations (e.g., ERISA, ADA, FMLA).
  • High level of integrity and ethical conduct in handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Healthcare Administration, Business, Social Work, Pre-Law).
  • Experience with long-term disability claims.
  • Certifications in claims management or a related insurance field (e.g., AIC, ALHC).
  • Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) is a plus.
