Job Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to kickstart your career in the manufacturing sector? Cavendish Farms in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, is seeking a motivated and reliable Entry-Level Machine Assistant to join our production team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to learn the ropes of industrial machinery operation and contribute to a fast-paced food processing environment. You will work alongside experienced operators, assisting with the setup, operation, and maintenance of various production machines, ensuring quality and efficiency in our state-of-the-art facility. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior machine operators with the setup, calibration, and operation of production machinery.
- Monitor machines during operation to ensure smooth running and identify any issues or malfunctions.
- Load raw materials into machines and unload finished products, adhering to safety protocols.
- Perform routine quality checks on products to ensure they meet company standards.
- Clean and maintain machinery and work areas, following strict hygiene and safety guidelines.
- Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality deviations to supervisors.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to achieve production targets and maintain a positive work environment.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Punctual and reliable attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment (even non-machine specific).
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and measuring equipment.
- Forklift certification (training can be provided if not certified).
