Job Description
Springfield Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to join our esteemed faculty. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging music curriculum and lesson plans for students across designated grade levels.
- Teach general music, choral ensembles, instrumental classes, or a combination, based on school requirements and teacher's expertise.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their musical development.
- Organize and direct school concerts, performances, and other musical events.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to integrate music into the broader curriculum.
- Manage and maintain musical instruments, equipment, and classroom resources.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and upcoming events.
- Stay updated on best practices in music education and participate in professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Music (or eligibility to obtain upon employment).
- Proficiency in at least one primary instrument (e.g., piano, voice, guitar, orchestral instrument).
- Strong understanding of music theory, history, and pedagogy.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
