Job Description

Join Cargill’s dedicated team as a Food Safety Inspector in Wichita, KS. This critical role involves ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality across our operations. You will be responsible for conducting regular inspections, enforcing regulatory compliance, and implementing food safety protocols to protect consumers and maintain brand integrity. We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of food safety principles and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections of food processing facilities, equipment, and production lines to ensure compliance with company policies, HACCP plans, and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Perform sensory evaluations, sampling, and testing of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, observations, and testing results.
  • Investigate food safety incidents, customer complaints, and non-conformances, identifying root causes and recommending preventive measures.
  • Provide training and guidance to production staff on food safety best practices and hygiene requirements.
  • Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and management teams to continuously improve food safety programs and processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with evolving food safety regulations and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food safety, quality assurance, or a similar role within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of USDA, FDA, HACCP, GMP, and other relevant food safety regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in data recording and reporting.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HACCP certification.
  • Experience with GFSI recognized standards (e.g., BRC, SQF).
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) techniques.
  • Previous experience in meat processing or grain operations.
