Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Engineer to join our dynamic team in Fairbanks, Alaska. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of environmental engineering tasks, including site assessment, remediation design, regulatory compliance, and environmental impact assessments, specifically tailored to the Alaskan context. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site investigations, sampling, and data analysis for various environmental projects.
- Develop and implement remediation strategies for contaminated sites, adhering to federal and state regulations.
- Prepare environmental impact assessments and regulatory permits for new and existing projects.
- Provide technical support for environmental compliance programs, including air, water, and waste management.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Manage project tasks, budgets, and schedules to ensure timely and successful delivery.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, proposals, and presentations.
- Oversee field activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in environmental consulting or engineering.
- Strong understanding of federal environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA) and Alaska-specific regulations.
- Proficiency in environmental site assessment and remediation technologies.
- Experience with data analysis and environmental modeling software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a demanding environment.
- Proven project management support capabilities.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel for field assignments as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one within 1-2 years.
- Experience working in cold climates or remote locations.
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
- Familiarity with GIS software for environmental data visualization and analysis.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and public consultation processes.
