Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures with precision and care on patients of all ages.
  • Verify patient identity and requisition information accurately.
  • Label and process specimens according to established protocols.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety, and quality assurance procedures.
  • Provide compassionate and professional patient care, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Manage and organize laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Document all procedures and patient information accurately in compliance with regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Assist with other laboratory duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Successful completion of a recognized Phlebotomy program
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent, practical experience as a Phlebotomist
  • Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques
  • Strong understanding of specimen collection, handling, and processing requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Basic computer proficiency

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification from a recognized national phlebotomy association (e.g., CMLTO eligibility)
  • Experience with various patient populations, including pediatric and geriatric
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
