Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our team in Mississauga, Ontario. Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures with precision and care on patients of all ages.
- Verify patient identity and requisition information accurately.
- Label and process specimens according to established protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to infection control, safety, and quality assurance procedures.
- Provide compassionate and professional patient care, ensuring a positive experience.
- Manage and organize laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Document all procedures and patient information accurately in compliance with regulations.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with other laboratory duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Successful completion of a recognized Phlebotomy program
- Minimum of 1 year of recent, practical experience as a Phlebotomist
- Demonstrated proficiency in venipuncture and capillary collection techniques
- Strong understanding of specimen collection, handling, and processing requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Basic computer proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized national phlebotomy association (e.g., CMLTO eligibility)
- Experience with various patient populations, including pediatric and geriatric
- Familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
