Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable School Custodian / Cleaner to join our team in Coventry. This vital role ensures a safe, clean, and hygienic environment for students, staff, and visitors within a school setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of all areas, performing routine maintenance tasks, and supporting the overall operational needs of the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning tasks across all areas of the school, including classrooms, corridors, offices, restrooms, and common areas.
- Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and pressure washers safely and effectively.
- Ensure all cleaning supplies are stocked and used efficiently, reporting any shortages to management.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of rubbish in accordance with waste management policies.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks, or report larger issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including COSHH guidelines, at all times.
- Support the setting up and clearing down of school events and activities as required.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness to create a healthy learning environment.
Required Skills
- Proven ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to cleaning.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Understanding of basic health and safety principles.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a custodial or cleaning role, ideally within an educational or similar institutional setting.
- Familiarity with various cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
- Valid UK driving license (desirable for potential inter-site travel).
