Job Description
Join the team at Terhune Orchards, a beloved family farm and winery in Princeton, New Jersey! We are seeking enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join our vineyard and winery operations. This entry-level position is perfect for someone eager to learn about viticulture and winemaking from the ground up. You will play a crucial role in maintaining our vineyards and assisting in various winery tasks, contributing to the quality of our produce and wines. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a beautiful agricultural setting, working alongside experienced professionals dedicated to their craft.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general vineyard tasks including pruning, trellising, leaf pulling, and canopy management.
- Assist with grape harvesting, both manual and machine-assisted, during peak seasons.
- Participate in winery operations such as cleaning and sanitizing tanks, barrels, and equipment.
- Support bottling line operations, including labeling, packing, and preparing orders for shipment.
- Conduct general farm maintenance, including weeding, minor repairs, and groundskeeping.
- Operate farm machinery and equipment safely under supervision (e.g., tractors, forklifts, utility vehicles).
- Monitor vine health and report any issues or abnormalities to vineyard management.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards in both vineyard and winery environments.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, standing, and walking for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Reliable transportation to and from the farm location.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and learn new tasks quickly.
- Basic understanding of English for safety and communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in agricultural labor, landscaping, or outdoor work.
