Job Description
Join AECOM’s dynamic team as an Environmental Engineering Intern in Buffalo, NY. This internship provides an invaluable opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of environmental engineering within a leading global infrastructure firm. You will work alongside experienced professionals, contributing to real-world projects that address critical environmental challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineers with data collection, analysis, and interpretation for environmental impact assessments.
- Support the development of technical reports, presentations, and other project documentation.
- Conduct field investigations, site visits, and sampling activities under supervision.
- Perform calculations and simulations related to environmental processes (e.g., air quality, water treatment, waste management).
- Research applicable environmental regulations, permits, and best practices.
- Contribute to the design and optimization of environmental remediation and pollution control systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success and adherence to quality standards.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance technical and professional skills.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering with an environmental focus, or a closely related field.
- Strong academic record (minimum GPA of 3.0).
- Basic understanding of environmental science principles and engineering fundamentals.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or co-op experience in an engineering or environmental consulting firm.
- Familiarity with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS).

- Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, NYSDEC).
