Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Waste Management Officer to join our Fort Worth team. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and environmentally sound management of waste operations in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing waste collection, disposal, and recycling processes, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily waste management operations, including collection, sorting, transportation, and disposal.
- Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, permits, and company policies.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure operational efficiency.
- Develop and implement waste reduction and recycling programs.
- Manage waste inventory, track volumes, and prepare detailed reports.
- Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Respond to and resolve operational issues and emergencies related to waste management.
- Train and supervise operational staff on best practices for waste handling and safety procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies or methods to improve waste management processes.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility among all staff.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in waste management operations or environmental compliance.
- Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., EPA, TCEQ).
- Proven ability to manage and optimize complex operational processes.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and report generation.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various operational sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Certifications in waste management or environmental auditing (e.g., SWANA, HAZWOPER).
- Experience with GIS or other mapping software for route optimization.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing sustainability initiatives.
- Fluency in Spanish or another language relevant to the local workforce.
