Job Description
Kiewit Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Omaha, Nebraska. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, analysis, and review of structural components for various projects, ensuring adherence to industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for various project components (e.g., bridges, buildings, foundations, temporary structures).
- Prepare detailed calculations, technical reports, and design drawings in accordance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE).
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, and electrical engineers, as well as project managers and construction personnel.
- Review shop drawings, fabricator submittals, and contractor requests for information (RFIs).
- Conduct site visits as needed to assess existing conditions, monitor construction progress, and provide engineering support.
- Participate in project meetings and effectively communicate technical information to various stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, quality assurance standards, and project schedules.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in structural design.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System).
- Strong understanding of structural mechanics, material properties, and construction methods.
- Excellent knowledge of relevant building codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360).
- Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate engineering calculations and reports.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in at least one U.S. state, or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA).
- Project experience in heavy civil, industrial, or power generation sectors.
- Experience with BIM software (e.g., Revit Structure).
