Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Government Mathematician to join our dedicated team in Wilmington, DE. This role involves applying advanced mathematical principles, statistical analysis, and modeling techniques to complex government projects, contributing directly to critical national security initiatives. The successful candidate will be instrumental in solving challenging analytical problems, developing robust mathematical models, and providing data-driven insights to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sophisticated mathematical models and algorithms for various government applications, including defense systems, intelligence analysis, and logistics.
- Conduct in-depth statistical analysis of large datasets to identify trends, anomalies, and critical patterns.
- Provide expert mathematical consultation and technical guidance to project teams and government clients.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other specialists to integrate mathematical solutions into larger systems.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and documentation of research findings and methodologies.
- Participate in the design, execution, and analysis of experiments and simulations.
- Stay abreast of cutting-edge developments in mathematics, statistics, and data science to continuously improve methodologies.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mathematical modeling, data analysis, or scientific computing, preferably in a government or defense context.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, or C++ for scientific and statistical computing.
- Strong understanding of numerical methods, optimization, probability theory, and statistical inference.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance (Secret or Top Secret preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with machine learning techniques and artificial intelligence applications.
- Familiarity with large-scale data processing tools and platforms (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
