Job Description
Are you an ambitious and bright individual looking to gain hands-on experience in the dynamic world of venture capital? TLcom Capital is offering a unique Summer Venture Capital Internship opportunity in our Nairobi office. This internship is designed for high-potential students eager to understand the fundamentals of early-stage investing, deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio management. You will work closely with our investment team, contributing to real projects and gaining invaluable insights into the African tech ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct market research and industry analysis to identify emerging trends and attractive investment opportunities across various sectors in Africa.
- Assist in sourcing and evaluating potential investment opportunities, including screening pitch decks and conducting initial company assessments.
- Support the due diligence process for prospective investments, including financial modeling, competitive analysis, and team assessments.
- Prepare investment memos, presentations, and other internal documents to support investment decisions.
- Contribute to portfolio management activities, including tracking company performance and analyzing key metrics.
- Participate in internal team meetings, pitch sessions, and industry events to expand network and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a solid understanding of financial concepts.
- Excellent research and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- High level of curiosity, intellectual horsepower, and a proactive attitude.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Demonstrated interest in technology, startups, and the African entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, or a startup environment.
- Familiarity with financial modeling and valuation techniques.
- Knowledge of key trends and players in the African tech landscape.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, fast-paced team.
