Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Building Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to a variety of exciting projects across the island. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking building inspections, surveys, and providing expert advice on construction, maintenance, and repair of buildings. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed building surveys, inspections, and condition assessments for a diverse portfolio of properties.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, specifications, and schedules of work for maintenance, repair, and refurbishment projects.
• Advise clients on property acquisition, building defects, dilapidations, and regulatory compliance (e.g., building codes, health and safety).
• Manage and oversee construction projects, ensuring adherence to design, budget, and timeline.
• Undertake party wall and boundary dispute advice, as required.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals.
• Provide expert witness testimony in legal proceedings when necessary.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, legislation, and technologies.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Building Surveyor.
• Strong knowledge of building pathology, construction techniques, and relevant legislation.
• Proficiency in producing detailed survey reports, specifications, and tender documents.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and client management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., RICS, CIQS).
• Experience with CAD software and other relevant surveying technologies.
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
• Familiarity with the Prince Edward Island building codes and regulations.
