Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Operations Research Analyst to join our advanced analytics team in Victoria, British Columbia. This critical role involves applying sophisticated quantitative methods and modeling techniques to solve complex business problems across various functions, including supply chain, logistics, merchandising, and store operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in optimization, simulation, and statistical analysis, coupled with practical experience in implementing solutions that drive tangible business value. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain advanced optimization, simulation, and predictive models to improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., supply chain, IT, merchandising) to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
• Present complex analytical findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to non-technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Utilize programming languages (Python, R) and optimization software (Gurobi, CPLEX) to build and deploy analytical tools and applications.
• Continuously research and evaluate new OR techniques and technologies to enhance our analytical capabilities.

Required Skills

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in Operations Research or advanced analytics.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, R, Java, C++).
• Extensive experience with optimization solvers (e.g., Gurobi, CPLEX, Xpress) and modeling languages (e.g., AMPL, OPL).
• Strong understanding of statistical analysis, data modeling, and machine learning techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate complex quantitative concepts to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. with a focus on large-scale optimization or stochastic processes.
• Experience in the retail, e-commerce, logistics, or supply chain industries.
• Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Experience with simulation software (e.g., AnyLogic, Arena) or discrete event simulation.
