Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Customs Entry Writer to join our dynamic team in Casper, Wyoming. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of customs entries for imported goods, adhering to all U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of customs compliance, tariff classifications, and international trade documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit accurate customs entries, including classification (HTS), valuation, and country of origin for various commodities.
  • Review and audit import documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading) for accuracy and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, and government agencies (CBP, OGA's) to resolve entry-related issues and discrepancies.
  • Stay current with changes in customs regulations, trade agreements, and government agency requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Handle duty drawback claims, protests, and post-entry amendments as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing client inquiries and offering solutions related to customs procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to streamline processes and ensure efficient operations.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in customs brokerage or international trade.
  • Proficient in U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classification, and valuation methods.
  • Strong understanding of import documentation (e.g., commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with customs brokerage software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) certification.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with specific commodity types (e.g., automotive, electronics, consumer goods).
  • Knowledge of other government agency (OGA) requirements (e.g., FDA, EPA, FCC).
