Job Description
HP Inc. is seeking an accomplished and dynamic Legal Counsel to join our in-house legal team in Boise, Idaho. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive legal support across various business functions, including corporate law, commercial transactions, intellectual property, compliance, and regulatory affairs. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice and support on a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including contract drafting, negotiation, and review.
- Advise on international legal issues, cross-border transactions, and global compliance initiatives.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks associated with HP's products, services, and business operations worldwide.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions, including data privacy, antitrust, and intellectual property.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including business units, sales, finance, human resources, and intellectual property teams.
- Assist in the development and implementation of company-wide legal policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Support litigation and dispute resolution efforts as needed, working with external counsel.
- Stay abreast of relevant legal developments and advise on their potential impact on HP's business.
Required Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
- Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. state (Idaho Bar preferred or willingness to obtain)
- 5+ years of experience practicing law, ideally with a combination of law firm and in-house corporate legal department experience
- Strong expertise in corporate law, commercial contracts, and international legal matters
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complex legal issues effectively
- High ethical standards and professional integrity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the technology industry, particularly with hardware, software, or services
- Fluency in additional languages relevant to HP's global operations (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin, German)
- Experience with data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and cybersecurity law
- Familiarity with intellectual property law (patents, trademarks, copyrights)
- Previous experience working with or advising on visa sponsorship processes
