Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Food Scientist to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Geelong. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support new product development (NPD) and product improvement projects from ideation to launch.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot plant trials, including formulation, processing, and sensory evaluation.
• Perform analytical testing on raw materials and finished products to ensure quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, marketing, and supply chain.
• Maintain accurate records of research, experiments, and results, preparing detailed reports and presentations.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in food science.
• Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support to manufacturing operations.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of food safety and quality management systems.

Required Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in food product development or research within the food manufacturing industry.
• Strong understanding of food chemistry, microbiology, and processing principles.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000) and regulatory requirements (e.g., FSANZ).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working in a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Food Science or related discipline.
• Experience with dairy, plant-based, or snack food product development.
• Proficiency in sensory evaluation methodologies and statistical analysis.
• Knowledge of packaging technologies and shelf-life extension techniques.
• Experience with scale-up from pilot plant to commercial production.
