Job Description
The Baseball Operations Intern will gain invaluable hands-on experience in various facets of a professional baseball organization. This immersive internship offers exposure to player development, scouting, analytics, and administrative tasks crucial to the daily operations of an MLB team. The intern will work closely with department heads and staff, contributing directly to projects that support the team’s strategic goals. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with data entry and analysis for player performance, scouting reports, and statistical tracking.
- Support the coordination of player travel, logistics, and accommodations.
- Aid in the preparation of pre-game and post-game reports and presentations.
- Conduct research on prospective players, industry trends, and competitive analysis.
- Provide administrative support to the Baseball Operations department as needed, including scheduling and document management.
- Contribute to special projects related to player development, minor league operations, or international scouting initiatives.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Sports Management, Business Administration, Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong passion for baseball and a foundational understanding of MLB rules, statistics, and player evaluation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Must be able to commit to the full duration of the internship (e.g., Summer, Fall, or Spring term).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in sports administration, data analysis, or a related field (academic projects or volunteer work count).
- Familiarity with baseball-specific software or databases (e.g., Rapsodo, TrackMan, Synergy).
- Basic knowledge of statistical programming languages (e.g., R, Python) is a plus.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the baseball schedule.
