Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Land Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Detroit, Michigan. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to diverse and impactful infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a wide range of surveying tasks, utilizing advanced technology, and ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and quality. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct various types of land surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS Land Title, construction, and as-built surveys.
- Operate and maintain a variety of surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and laser scanners.
- Process and analyze survey data using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation).
- Prepare accurate survey drawings, plats, and legal descriptions.
- Research and interpret legal documents, deeds, and historical survey records.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to ensure project requirements are met.
- Supervise field crews and ensure adherence to safety protocols and quality standards.
- Perform calculations to determine property boundaries, elevations, and other spatial data.
- Maintain precise field notes and documentation for all survey projects.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar surveying software.
- Strong understanding of land surveying principles, practices, and legal requirements.
- Experience with GPS/GNSS surveying techniques and equipment.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Michigan or ability to obtain one.
- Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with terrestrial laser scanning and point cloud processing.
- Knowledge of UAV/drone surveying techniques.
- Familiarity with local Detroit and Michigan surveying regulations and standards.
