Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic International Affairs Lead to join our dynamic team in Salt Lake City, UT. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for navigating complex global landscapes, fostering key relationships with international stakeholders, and advising senior leadership on geopolitical trends and their potential impact on our global business operations. This role demands a sophisticated understanding of international relations, economics, and policy, coupled with exceptional communication and diplomatic skills. You will act as a key liaison, ensuring our firm maintains strong, productive relationships and adheres to best practices in an ever-evolving global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies for engaging with international governmental bodies, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on global political, economic, and social developments relevant to the firm's interests.
  • Represent Goldman Sachs at international forums, conferences, and bilateral meetings.
  • Advise senior management on international policy issues, geopolitical risks, and opportunities for global expansion.
  • Build and maintain a robust network of contacts within the international relations community.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, compliance, and business units, to ensure alignment on international strategies.
  • Prepare comprehensive briefings, position papers, and presentations for internal and external audiences.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in international relations, public policy, or government affairs, preferably within a global financial institution, governmental agency, or international organization.
  • Deep understanding of global geopolitical dynamics, international law, and economic policy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proven ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high-level relationships across diverse cultures and political systems.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in at least one other major language (e.g., Mandarin, Spanish, French, Arabic) is highly desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Law, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a diplomatic service or a major international organization.
  • Familiarity with financial market regulations and global financial infrastructure.
  • Proven track record of successful crisis management and risk mitigation in an international context.
