Job Description

Canadian Tire is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Retail Security Guard to join our team in Toronto. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in security, as comprehensive license training will be provided to the successful candidate. As a Retail Security Guard, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our customers and staff, protecting company assets, and ensuring adherence to store policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular patrols of the store premises, both indoor and outdoor, to deter theft and ensure safety.
• Monitor surveillance equipment and alarm systems to identify and respond to security threats.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to security incidents, including theft, disturbances, and medical emergencies.
• Assist in apprehending individuals involved in theft or other illegal activities, following company policies and legal guidelines.
• Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain accurate records of all security-related activities.
• Enforce store policies and procedures regarding security, access control, and loss prevention.
• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting shoppers and staff with inquiries and directing them as needed.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement when necessary for incident resolution.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance security skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

• Ability to obtain a valid Security Guard License in Ontario (training provided).
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
• Basic computer proficiency for report writing and surveillance monitoring.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in security, customer service, or a related field is an asset.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Knowledge of relevant security laws and regulations in Ontario.
