Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and analytical Financial Examiner to join our team in Jersey City. This role is crucial in ensuring the integrity and compliance of our financial operations with regulatory standards and internal policies. The Financial Examiner will be responsible for conducting in-depth analyses of financial data, identifying potential risks, and evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of financial regulations, excellent analytical skills, and a meticulous approach to detail. You will work within a dynamic environment, collaborating with various departments to uphold our commitment to financial soundness and ethical practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive examinations of financial records, statements, and transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GAAP, SEC, Federal Reserve).
  • Identify and assess potential financial risks, irregularities, and areas of non-compliance within the firm’s operations.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of internal control systems and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare detailed reports on examination findings, including recommendations for corrective actions and policy enhancements.
  • Collaborate with internal audit, compliance, and business units to implement corrective measures and strengthen control frameworks.
  • Monitor adherence to anti-money laundering (AML) and know-your-customer (KYC) regulations.
  • Stay abreast of changes in financial regulations, industry best practices, and emerging risks to continually enhance examination methodologies.
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects and investigations as required by senior management or regulatory bodies.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial examination, internal audit, compliance, or risk management within the financial services industry
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations (e.g., Dodd-Frank, BSA, AML, FINRA, SEC rules)
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and data interpretation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, CFA, CAMS, or other relevant professional certifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Experience with large-scale financial data systems and analytical tools (e.g., SQL, Python, advanced Excel)
  • Familiarity with market risk, credit risk, or operational risk frameworks
