Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Tax Lawyer to join our dynamic Tax & Legal practice in Naperville, Illinois. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide sophisticated tax advice to a diverse portfolio of corporate and individual clients, specializing in domestic and international tax planning, compliance, and controversy. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in tax law, a keen analytical mind, and excellent client communication skills. Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive tax advice to clients on a wide range of federal, state, local, and international tax issues.
• Conduct in-depth tax research and analysis to develop innovative and legally sound tax strategies.
• Prepare and review complex tax opinions, memoranda, and other tax-related documents.
• Represent clients before tax authorities in audits, appeals, and other tax controversy matters.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including financial advisors and consultants, to deliver integrated client solutions.
• Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations, advising clients proactively on potential impacts and opportunities.
• Mentor junior tax professionals and contribute to thought leadership within the practice.
• Assist clients with tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and other business transactions.

Required Skills

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. state (Illinois bar admission preferred or willingness to obtain).
• Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing tax law in a law firm or corporate tax department.
• Demonstrated expertise in federal and state income tax, with strong knowledge of corporate and/or partnership taxation.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly and effectively to clients and colleagues.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Client-service oriented with a professional and collaborative demeanor.
• Experience with international tax matters (e.g., cross-border transactions, transfer pricing) is a significant plus.
• Eligibility for visa sponsorship (for qualified international candidates).

Preferred Qualifications

• LL.M. in Taxation.
• Experience with tax controversy and litigation.
• CPA license or significant accounting background.
• Proficiency in tax software and research tools.
