Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanics to join our team in Norfolk, Virginia. Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on heavy diesel engines and related equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using specialized diagnostic tools and software.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems.
- Conduct routine inspections and safety checks on all equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance performed, and parts used.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding repair status and potential issues.
- Assist in training less experienced mechanics as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel, cooling, lubrication, and exhaust systems.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools and software for heavy equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE Diesel Certification).
- Experience with railway equipment or heavy construction machinery.
- Proficiency in welding and fabrication.
