Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant District Attorney to join our esteemed team. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the justice system by prosecuting criminal cases, advocating for victims, and maintaining public order. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and prosecute misdemeanor and felony criminal cases from inception through trial.
- Conduct legal research, draft motions, and respond to various legal filings.
- Represent the People of the State of California in court proceedings, including preliminary hearings, motions, and jury trials.
- Interview witnesses, victims, and law enforcement officers.
- Negotiate plea agreements and make sentencing recommendations.
- Provide legal advice and assistance to law enforcement agencies.
- Maintain accurate and thorough case records and documentation.
- Participate in continuing legal education and professional development programs.
Required Skills
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney, with significant trial experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of California criminal law, procedure, and evidence.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage a demanding caseload independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in legal research software and courtroom technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a prosecuting attorney or public defender.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish).
- Advanced training in trial advocacy or specialized legal areas.
- Familiarity with the Fresno County court system and local legal community.
