Job Description

Comcast is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Broadcast Engineer to join our dynamic technical team in Wilmington, Delaware. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the reliable operation and advancement of our broadcast and media distribution systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of broadcast equipment, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. This role involves working with a diverse range of technologies, from traditional broadcast infrastructure to IP-based video delivery systems. Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and repair broadcast equipment, including cameras, switchers, routers, encoders, decoders, and transmission systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and diagnostic testing on all broadcast-related hardware and software.
• Respond to and troubleshoot technical issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous broadcast operations.
• Collaborate with production teams, IT, and other engineering departments to support live broadcasts, studio productions, and content delivery.
• Stay current with emerging broadcast technologies, industry standards, and best practices.
• Document system configurations, maintenance procedures, and technical specifications.
• Assist in the design, integration, and deployment of new broadcast systems and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with FCC regulations and other relevant industry standards.

Required Skills

• Proven experience as a Broadcast Engineer or similar role in a live broadcast environment.
• Strong understanding of broadcast signal flow, video and audio standards (SDI, AES/EBU, IP video).
• Proficiency with broadcast test equipment (waveform monitors, vector scopes, spectrum analyzers).
• Experience with various broadcast systems, including master control, ingest, playout, and transmission.
• Familiarity with IP networking principles relevant to broadcast media (e.g., SMPTE 2110).
• Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical diagrams.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Broadcast Technology, or a related field.
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., SBE, CCNA, SMPTE).
• Experience with cloud-based media processing and distribution platforms.
• Knowledge of automation systems and media asset management (MAM) systems.
• Experience with virtualized broadcast environments.
