Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Officer to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. In this role, you will be instrumental in managing supplier relationships, optimizing purchasing strategies, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services. You will work closely with various internal departments and external suppliers, contributing to Tesco’s operational efficiency and strategic goals. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from requisition to order placement and delivery.
- Identify and evaluate new suppliers, ensuring they meet Tesco's quality, cost, and ethical standards.
- Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve the best possible value and service levels.
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct regular reviews, and address any issues promptly.
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize costs and enhance efficiency.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure procurement aligns with business objectives.
- Analyse market trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procurement procedures, and relevant regulations.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in a procurement or purchasing role.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of supply chain management principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related field.
- CIPS qualification (or working towards one).
- Experience in the retail or FMCG industry.
- Familiarity with e-procurement platforms.
