Job Description
Suncor Energy is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Treasury Analyst to join our dynamic finance team in Calgary. This role is critical in supporting the treasury function’s daily operations, including cash management, foreign exchange, short-term investments, and debt management. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring liquidity, optimizing financial resources, and mitigating financial risks across the organization. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily cash management activities, including forecasting, reporting, and executing cash movements to optimize liquidity.
- Prepare and analyze daily and weekly cash position reports and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Support foreign exchange exposure analysis and hedging activities.
- Participate in the management of short-term investment portfolios and money market activities.
- Assist with debt covenant compliance, reporting, and management of credit facilities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., accounting, tax, business units) to gather financial data and ensure accurate treasury operations.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of treasury systems and processes.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial analysis and reports as requested by senior management.
- Monitor financial markets and provide insights on interest rates, foreign exchange, and other relevant economic indicators.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a corporate treasury or financial analysis role.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, instruments, and risk management principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions) and financial modeling.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional designation (CPA, CFA, CTP) or working towards one.
- Experience with treasury management systems (e.g., SAP, Kyriba, FIS Quantum).
- Knowledge of energy sector financial operations.
- Experience with foreign exchange hedging strategies.
