Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Disaster Preparedness Coordinator to join our team in San Antonio, Texas. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive emergency management plans and programs across our regional operations. You will work to minimize the impact of potential disasters, ensure business continuity, and safeguard the well-being of our personnel and infrastructure. This position requires a strong understanding of emergency preparedness principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate complex initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and disseminate comprehensive disaster preparedness plans, policies, and procedures in alignment with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Organize and conduct regular emergency drills and exercises, evaluating their effectiveness and implementing improvements.
• Provide training and education to employees on emergency response protocols, evacuation procedures, and disaster awareness.
• Liaise with local, state, and federal emergency management agencies, first responders, and community organizations.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of emergency supplies, equipment, and resources.
• Conduct risk assessments and identify vulnerabilities, recommending mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate post-disaster recovery efforts, including damage assessment, resource allocation, and support services.
• Manage and update the emergency contact database and communication systems.
• Prepare reports and presentations on preparedness status, incidents, and lessons learned.

Required Skills

• Proven experience in emergency management or disaster preparedness.
• Strong knowledge of FEMA, DHS, and other relevant emergency management frameworks (e.g., NIMS, ICS).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
• Proficiency in project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and make sound decisions during emergencies.
• Competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) or Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) certification.
• Experience in the telecommunications or critical infrastructure sector.
• Familiarity with GIS mapping and emergency management software.
