Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool and Die Maker to join our manufacturing team in Orlando, Florida. This critical role involves the precise design, construction, modification, and repair of dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges to support our advanced production needs. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the quality and efficiency of our manufacturing processes, working with various materials and machinery to produce high-precision components. Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, repair, and modify complex tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and gauges from blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
- Operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC machines to fabricate precise components.
- Perform precision measurements using a wide range of inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, gauges, and CMMs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling performance, recommending and implementing improvements.
- Maintain and calibrate tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure tooling meets design specifications and production requirements.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and quality standards in all aspects of work.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Tool and Die Maker in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Expertise in operating manual and CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).
- Solid understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to work with a variety of materials including steel, aluminum, and plastics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or vocational training in Tool and Die Making.
- Journeyman Toolmaker certification.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
- Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
