Job Description
We are seeking skilled and safety-conscious Powerline Technicians to join our operational team in Manchester, UK. As a Powerline Technician, you will be instrumental in the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical power lines and associated equipment, ensuring the continuous and safe supply of electricity to our customers. Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain overhead electrical power lines, cables, and other electrical equipment.
- Inspect and test power lines and auxiliary equipment for defects, including transformers, switches, and insulators.
- Identify and resolve power outages and other electrical system issues.
- Work at heights on poles and in bucket trucks, following strict safety protocols.
- Operate and maintain a variety of tools and heavy equipment, including diggers, trenchers, and derricks.
- Read and interpret blueprints, circuit diagrams, and other technical documents.
- Participate in emergency response and on-call rotations to address critical issues.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Powerline Technician or similar role in electrical distribution/transmission.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical theory, principles, and safety procedures.
- Proficiency in climbing poles and working at heights.
- Ability to operate and maintain specialized powerline equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant trade certification or diploma in electrical engineering or powerline technology.
- Experience with high-voltage systems (up to 132kV).
- Familiarity with UK electrical safety regulations (e.g., Electricity at Work Regulations).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- CDL/HGV license.
