Job Description

CGI Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and eager-to-learn Cybersecurity Apprentice to join our dynamic team in Montreal. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to kickstart your career in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of cybersecurity operations, threat analysis, incident response, and security architecture. This role is designed for individuals with a foundational understanding of IT and a strong passion for information security, looking to develop practical skills and contribute to protecting critical systems and data.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring security systems for anomalies and potential threats.
• Support the incident response team in investigating security incidents and implementing containment measures.
• Perform vulnerability scans and assist in analyzing results to identify weaknesses.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of security documentation, policies, and procedures.
• Participate in security awareness training initiatives for employees.
• Learn to identify, analyze, and report on security risks and vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with IT teams to implement security best practices and controls.
• Engage in continuous learning and skill development in emerging cybersecurity technologies and trends.

Required Skills

• Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, firewalls, routers).
• Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Enrollment or completion of a diploma or degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+ certification (or equivalent).
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, antivirus, or intrusion detection systems.
• Prior experience in an IT support or helpdesk role.
