Job Description
Join the Allison Transmission team in Indianapolis as a General Laborer within our manufacturing plant. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the production of world-class transmissions that power a variety of vehicles globally. We are looking for dedicated individuals who are eager to learn, work hard, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment. No prior manufacturing experience is required, as we provide comprehensive training.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform various general labor duties to support manufacturing operations, including material handling, loading/unloading, and assembly tasks.
- Operate basic hand tools, power tools, and light machinery under supervision.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist skilled trades and production workers as needed.
- Inspect finished products for quality control and report any discrepancies.
- Follow all company policies and procedures, including attendance and safety guidelines.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Basic understanding of safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Reliable transportation and excellent attendance record.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a physical labor role or manufacturing setting (even if not direct manufacturing).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
