Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tool and Die Maker to enrich our manufacturing team in Minneapolis. This critical role involves the precise building, meticulous repair, and essential maintenance of complex dies, fixtures, and specialized tooling integral to the production of our precision components. The ideal candidate will possess a profound understanding of precision machining principles, material science, and superior problem-solving capabilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and meticulously repair complex progressive, compound, and forming dies.
  • Operate a comprehensive range of machine tools, including lathes, mills, grinders, and advanced CNC equipment, for precise part fabrication.
  • Execute precision machining tasks to exacting tolerances of +/-0.0005 inches or less.
  • Efficiently troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve tooling issues to minimize production downtime.
  • Implement and perform preventative maintenance on dies and tooling to ensure optimal performance and extended longevity.
  • Accurately read and interpret intricate blueprints, schematics, and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Collaborate effectively with engineering and production teams to continuously optimize tooling designs and streamline manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain a consistently clean, organized, and safe work environment in adherence to all company standards.
  • Proficiently utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators for quality assurance.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional proficiency in blueprint reading and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Expert-level capability in operating both manual and CNC machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of various tool steels, heat treatment processes, and material properties.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and diagnostic troubleshooting abilities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work both autonomously and as an integral part of a collaborative team.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a commitment to precision craftsmanship.
  • Robust mechanical aptitude and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or a recognized vocational certification in Tool & Die Making.
  • Possession of a Journeyman Tool and Die Maker certification.
  • Previous experience with CAD/CAM software solutions (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam).
  • Proven experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience specifically with stamping or injection molding tooling.
