Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Clinical Psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team. This vital role will involve providing comprehensive psychological services to cancer patients and their families, addressing the unique emotional, behavioral, and cognitive challenges associated with cancer diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship. The successful candidate will contribute to patient well-being through direct clinical care, consultation, and participation in research initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and evaluations for adult and adolescent cancer patients.
- Provide evidence-based psychotherapy, counseling, and support to patients and their families coping with cancer-related stress, anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, and grief.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs and in collaboration with the medical team.
- Offer psychological consultation to oncologists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, contributing a psychological perspective to patient care planning.
- Engage in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and relevant research activities.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
- Facilitate psychoeducational groups and workshops for patients and caregivers.
Required Skills
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
- Completion of an APA-accredited internship.
- Current unrestricted license or eligibility for licensure as a Clinical Psychologist in New York State.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-doctoral clinical experience, preferably in an oncology or health psychology setting.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment for individuals facing serious medical illness.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Demonstrated commitment to cultural competence and patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification in Clinical Psychology or Health Psychology.
- Experience with specific psychological interventions relevant to cancer care (e.g., CBT, ACT, mindfulness-based stress reduction).
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Arabic).
- Previous experience supervising psychology trainees.
- Record of research or publication in health psychology or psycho-oncology.
