Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Risk Analyst to join our dynamic team in Vancouver. In this role, you will play a crucial part in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks across various business lines. You will work with complex data sets, develop risk models, and provide insightful reports to support strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of various financial risks, including credit risk, market risk, and operational risk.
- Develop, implement, and maintain risk models and methodologies to assess potential exposures.
- Monitor risk limits and report on breaches or emerging risk trends to senior management.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across different departments to understand business processes and their associated risks.
- Prepare comprehensive risk reports, presentations, and dashboards for various committees and regulatory bodies.
- Assist in the development and enhancement of risk management policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging risk landscapes.
- Participate in ad-hoc projects and assignments related to risk assessment and mitigation.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and financial modeling techniques.
- Advanced Excel skills (VBA preferred) and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of financial products, markets, and risk management principles.
Preferred Qualifications
- CFA, FRM, or other relevant professional certifications.
- Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with risk management software or systems.
- Knowledge of Canadian financial regulations and reporting requirements.
