Job Description
Walsh Construction is seeking motivated and hardworking individuals to join our team as Construction Site Laborers. This entry-level position is perfect for those looking to start a career in construction without prior experience. You will play a crucial role in supporting our skilled tradespeople and ensuring the smooth operation of our construction sites in Chicago.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled craft workers (e.g., carpenters, masons, electricians) with various tasks.
- Perform general site clean-up, debris removal, and maintenance to ensure a safe and organized work environment.
- Load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from work areas.
- Dig trenches, shovel earth, and compact ground as directed.
- Operate hand and power tools under supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Prepare work areas by setting up and dismantling scaffolding, barricades, and warning signs.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the site supervisor.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects, standing for long periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions from supervisors.
- Basic understanding of construction site safety or willingness to be trained.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
