Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Scientist to join our dynamic team in Cleveland, Ohio. This role involves contributing to a wide range of environmental assessment, compliance, and remediation projects for public and private sector clients. The successful candidate will conduct fieldwork, perform data analysis, prepare technical reports, and support senior staff in project management and client communication. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental site assessments (Phase I and Phase II ESA) including historical research, site reconnaissance, sampling of soil, groundwater, and air.
  • Perform site inspections, fieldwork, and data collection activities, ensuring compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Analyze collected data, interpret results, and prepare comprehensive technical reports, work plans, and regulatory documents.
  • Assist with environmental permitting, regulatory compliance audits, and due diligence investigations.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including engineers, geologists, and project managers.
  • Support the development of proposals, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
  • Adhere to project budgets and schedules while maintaining high-quality standards.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with environmental regulations such as NEPA, RCRA, CERCLA, and state-specific environmental laws.
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel for fieldwork as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification.
  • Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS).
  • Familiarity with environmental modeling software.
  • Previous consulting experience in environmental services.
