Job Description
Join Wincanton, a leader in logistics, as a professional Tanker Truck Driver. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of bulk liquids, such as fuels, chemicals, or food-grade products, across various locations. This role requires meticulous attention to safety regulations, adherence to schedules, and a commitment to maintaining our high standards of service. If you possess a valid HGV Class 1 license, an ADR certification, and a strong understanding of tanker operations, we invite you to become a vital part of our driving team.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate tanker vehicles (Class 1 HGV) for the transportation of various bulk liquids.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, completing all necessary documentation and reporting any defects promptly.
- Ensure secure loading and unloading of cargo, strictly adhering to all company safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Comply with all legal regulations, including driving hours, tachograph laws, and ADR (European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road) regulations.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, documentation, and communicate effectively with dispatch and clients regarding delivery status or potential delays.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and collections, representing Wincanton professionally.
- Handle hazardous materials in accordance with strict safety guidelines and emergency procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and maintain certifications.
Required Skills
- Valid HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) driving license with no more than 6 penalty points.
- ADR Licence (minimum Class 3 Liquids) with tanks endorsement.
- Driver CPC Qualification Card, up to date.
- Minimum of 2 years' proven experience driving tanker vehicles.
- Excellent understanding of tachograph rules, driver hour regulations, and vehicle safety.
- Demonstrable commitment to safety, compliance, and professional driving standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specific liquid types (e.g., fuels, chemicals, food-grade products).
- Petroleum Passport or similar site access certification (if applicable to specific contracts).
- Experience with various tanker types, pumping equipment, and delivery systems.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues on the road.
