Job Description

We are seeking an exceptionally skilled and discreet Household Sommelier to manage and curate an extensive private wine cellar for a high-net-worth individual within a luxurious residence in Fulwood, Sheffield. The ideal candidate will possess an encyclopedic knowledge of wines, spirits, and cigars, coupled with impeccable service standards and a deep understanding of private household etiquette. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, proactive cellar management, and the ability to enhance the dining and entertaining experience through expertly selected beverages.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain a comprehensive private wine cellar, including inventory, procurement, rotation, and storage conditions.
• Develop and expand the cellar collection, sourcing rare and fine wines from around the world.
• Provide expert wine pairing recommendations for daily meals and special events, working closely with private chefs and household staff.
• Conduct tastings and educational sessions for the principal and guests.
• Handle all aspects of wine service, from decanting to presentation, ensuring perfection.
• Manage budgets for wine and beverage purchases, maintaining accurate records.
• Oversee the inventory and service of spirits, liqueurs, and cigars.
• Ensure all glassware, decanters, and service tools are maintained to the highest standards.
• Stay abreast of global wine trends, new releases, and industry developments.

Required Skills

• WSET Level 3 Advanced Certification or Court of Master Sommeliers Advanced Sommelier Diploma (or equivalent).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sommelier in a high-end restaurant, luxury hotel, or private household.
• Profound knowledge of viticulture, enology, and global wine regions.
• Exceptional tasting and pairing abilities.
• Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills.
• Utmost discretion, professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in cellar management software and inventory systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master Sommelier Diploma (CMS) or WSET Diploma.
• Fluency in additional languages.
• Experience in a Michelin-starred environment or luxury private yacht/jet service.
• Extensive knowledge of spirits, cocktails, and fine cigars.
• Formal training in hospitality management.
