Job Description

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Chemical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Lisburn. This role is crucial for optimizing and developing chemical processes within our manufacturing and R&D facilities. The successful candidate will be involved in all stages of process development, from conceptual design and pilot plant operations to full-scale production, ensuring safety, efficiency, and environmental compliance are at the forefront. You will work on exciting projects that contribute to the development of sustainable technologies and advanced materials, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve our ambitious goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes and equipment.
  • Conduct process simulations, material balances, and energy balances.
  • Perform root cause analysis for process deviations and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement process safety management systems and procedures.
  • Manage pilot plant operations and scale-up new processes to commercial production.
  • Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and operational manuals.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, PRO/II).
  • Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles (thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, reaction engineering).
  • Experience with process design, optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards it.
  • Experience in catalysis, materials science, or specialty chemicals manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Project management experience.
