Job Description

As a Cargo Handler at FedEx Express, you will play a crucial role in our daily operations, ensuring the efficient movement of packages and freight throughout our facility. This physically demanding position involves loading, unloading, sorting, and scanning various types of cargo, from small packages to larger freight items. You will work in a fast-paced warehouse environment, contributing to the timely and accurate delivery of goods that our customers depend on. Safety and attention to detail are paramount in this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload freight and packages from trucks, trailers, and aircraft containers, often requiring the use of manual and powered equipment.
• Sort and scan packages according to destination and shipping instructions, ensuring accurate routing.
• Operate various material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks (training provided if needed).
• Inspect cargo for damage and accurately report any discrepancies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
• Work effectively as part of a team to meet daily operational goals and deadlines.
• Prepare and verify shipping documentation as required.

Required Skills

• Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 75 lbs on a regular basis.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and climb for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate sorting and handling of cargo.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Basic literacy (reading and understanding labels, instructions, and safety manuals).
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and a warehouse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or cargo handling role.
• Forklift certification or experience operating similar material handling equipment.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
